Five Poetry Forms Just in Time for Poetry Month

Hi teacher friends!  Are you wanting something fun for students to write about during poetry month in April?  Here's five poetry forms sure to make students happy and you can assess content area knowledge at the same time.
There's a landmark and an explorer poem (social studies), an animal riddle (science), a Fibonacci (math) poem, and a birthday poem.  These fit the format of my independent poetry unit if you have students who desire more!

The best part about this blog post is that I was able to create it and upload it from off the coast of Grand Cayman from our cruise ship balcony in the Caribbean Sea!  This photo is taken from my "office" while we were docked in Cozumel, Mexico the next day.

Enjoy writing poetry with your students!
